Hitler Was a Peace-Loving Leader Trying to Save Europe

Europa: The Last Battle portrays Adolf Hitler as a reluctant warrior forced into conflict. The film insists that “Hitler actually made several documented attempts in an effort to avoid World War II … (and that) each of these peace offerings were rejected by those who would gain from a war with Germany.” In this revisionist telling, Hitler comes off as a gentle dove who only wanted to rescue Europe from chaos.

In reality, of course, Hitler’s own words and deeds expose him as anything but peace-loving. On the 22nd of August 1939 — one week before invading Poland – for example, he candidly told his generals that “It was clear to me that a conflict with Poland had to come sooner or later. I had already made this decision in the spring…” Far from being dragged unwillingly into war, therefore, Hitler was proactively planning it.

British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, who had desperately tried appeasement, had to learn this the hard way — specifically after Hitler violated the Munich Agreement and occupied Czechoslovakia in 1938. After this, Chamberlain warned that “Hitler would not have (peace). He had evidently made up his mind to attack Poland whatever happened.” Therefore, when Germany’s troops stormed over the Polish frontier on the 1st of September 1939, it was clear to all who started the war.

As Chamberlain lamented, “no word given by Germany’s ruler could be trusted.”

“The meeting discussed neither gas chambers, shootings, nor any other extermination methods. There was never a final solution plan.”

An absolute MOUNTAIN of historical evidence, however, begs to differ.

As an example of the kind of proof we do have, in a secret speech on 4th of October 1943, SS chief Heinrich Himmler spoke explicitly about the ongoing genocide:

“I am talking about the evacuation of the Jews, the extermination of the Jewish people… Most of you know what it means when 100 bodies lie together, or 500 or 1,000. … This is a page of glory in our history which has never been written and shall never be written.”

Here we have a top Nazi leader boasting, in grisly detail, about systematically annihilating Jews. This alone shatters the ‘hoax’ claim – and that’s before you get into the literal TONS of evidence that was submitted during the Nuremberg Trials, a body of evidence which has only become weightier still as historians have set about the grisly topic, and done what they do best.

And just to REALLY help nail down the fact that to deny the holocaust is to argue that the sky is in fact red within the timeframe we have today, here’s another important bit of specific evidence to consider: eyewitness testimony.

General Dwight Eisenhower himself, upon liberating a concentration camp in 1945, was so appalled that he began to document everything, knowing full well that someday people might try to deny it. “The things I saw beggar description,” he reported, “The visual evidence and the verbal testimony of starvation, cruelty and bestiality were so overpowering as to leave me a bit sick.”

He also invited journalists and even forced nearby German civilians to tour the camps, anticipating that “some b*stard will get up and say this never happened.”

As a result then, not a single serious historian doubts the reality of the Holocaust. As scholar Deborah Lipstadt writes, Holocaust deniers are not offering an “alternate view” in good faith; they are propagating a virulent lie. “Deniers… are not the equivalents of flat-earth theorists, nor are they just plain loonies…. For instance, the film highlights a 1939 statement from a Polish diplomat, Count Potocki, claiming “propaganda here (in the US) is entirely in Jewish hands… the Jews are deliberately heading for (a) war.” In the movie’s narrative, shadowy Jewish elites puppeteered world events, leaving poor Hitler with no choice but to fight back. It’s the old antisemitic conspiracy theory on steroids: Jews as omnipotent string-pullers, fomenting war for their own sinister ends – you no doubt, tragically, know the one we mean.

Let’s be clear though: Germany started World War II by invading its neighbours, and that’s the beginning and the end of the matter. No secret rabbinical council ordered the Panzers into Poland. Hitler did that. Britain and France declared war on Germany only after Hitler’s armies refused their offer to write it all off as a whoopsie daisy and u-turn back over the border – the end.

Prime Minister Chamberlain’s broadcast upon declaring war on Germany was unequivocal in this matter too. As Chamberlain himself put it, “Hitler would not have (peace) … he made up his mind to attack Poland whatever happened.”

The myth of a ‘Jewish war’ was also, and perhaps unsurprisingly, Nazi propaganda to justify their crimes. Historian Jeffrey Herf explains this by saying that even though “Germany started the war by invading Poland,” Hitler ranted that, “according to (his) paranoid logic, the Jews had launched the war” as part of a plot against Germany. This absurd blame-shifting served two purposes: to whip up anti-Jewish hatred and to excuse Nazi atrocities as “self-defence.”

So, that’s the ‘the Jews started the war’ business put to bed, but what about the wider claims that they “control the world”?

It’s certainly a classic conspiracy theory, that’s for sure, one with origins in the infamous Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a proved work of forged hokum from 1903 that alleged a Jewish plot for world domination. It was exposed as a hoax all the way back in the 1920s, yet it refuses to die, and modern Nazi extremists still cite it, again, and again, and again…

The film repackages this age of method however by claiming that Jewish Bolsheviks were out ‘to get’ Germany. But real history doesn’t line up with the purported comic-book villainy. If Jews truly acted in that manner, for example, one might wonder why so many Jews perished under the hammer and sickle? Take just the Soviet Union, as an example, Stalin purged many Jewish officials and trumped up the ‘Doctor’s Plot’ in 1953, which saw him accuse Jewish doctors of treason – hardly the action of a regime secretly controlled by Jews.

As historian Gary Saul Morson dryly notes, “none of the Jewish Communists was acting as a Jew… The Judeo-Bolshevik myth (claims) world leaders are fronts for hidden Jewish elders. That is entirely false… Bolshevik Jews… repudiated their Jewishness.” In other words, those individual Jews who became communists did so as committed ideologues, not as agents of a global synagogue. Something that is very much a variation of what we just discussed, but distinct still as its own argument in Europa, and therefore worth going over, is the idea that Germany did NOT start WWII, with the film also painting Germany as the victim of Allied aggression, and insisting that Hitler “Never wanted war with the west,” and that is was the Allies, themselves as mere puppets of the Jews naturally, who really triggered the conflict.

The Jewish part of that claim we have already examined of course, but now, let’s look at the actions of the Allies and rebuke the assertion that they ‘were gunning for Germany,’ as it were.

One of the films key points is that that Poland refused German demands, largely due to its defensive pact with Britain. Make no mistake, this in and of itself is true, as Poland was HUGELY invigorated by knowing that the Anglos would come steaming across the Baltic Sea should war come; but in reality it was in a ‘with our strong friend by our side we don’t have to give into bullies’ way — not a ‘we are teaming up with our strong friend to mash up our neighbour that we have it in for’ way.

Plus, kind of a big point here which is often overlooked by Neo-Nazis and holocaust deniers; Poland was issuing NO demands of its own to Germany in the lead up to WWII. It wasn’t as though the two were mutually chest beating on the diplomatic stage, almost WWI style, and then, ‘oh no,’ the inevitable shooting began and it all got out of hand, no it was ALL Germany imposing itself upon Poland, which simply wished to be left alone.

Similarly, it was also Germany that escalated into armed conflict; Poland HAD fully mobilised its military a week before the invasion, after a bungled German special forces operation made it rather apparent an attack was coming, but they didn’t undertake a single aggressive action to Germany before the panzers rolled across the border.

So yeah, it was Germany that started issuing demands, and Germany that commenced an invasion when it didn’t get it’s way – pretty straight forward, right?

A deeper read of the history supports this surface level evaluation too, as Hitler was RATHER expansionist – to put it mildly. For example, prior to the invasion of Poland he had annexed Austria in 1938, and also puppeteered the dismembering of Czechoslovakia from 1938-1939, with the Czech half being directly integrated into the Reich, and the Slovak half being set up as a client state under him. And just to REALLY seal the deal, and absolutely rule out the argument of this ever having been mere opportunism, he even talked about his intention to do this in Mein Kampf – that’d be the whole ‘Lebensraum’ or ‘Living Space’ business he went on about.

It can’t be forgotten too that Germany’s eventual enemies DID try to resolve the situation diplomatically as well – they bent over backwards to do so in fact. Chamberlain, for example, famously gave Hitler the Sudetenland, i.e. border regions of Czechoslovakia, at Munich in 1938 in exchange for a promise of “no more territorial demands,” and Hitler broke that promise within months by seizing Prague.

In putting their arms around Poland, all Britain and France — as they also guaranteed Polish independence – were doing then, was seeing Hitler’s clear as day expansionist ambitions, and drawing a line in the sand and saying ‘no more.’

And do you want to know the best bit about the perverse spin that Europa puts on these events? Even Hitler himself didn’t claim it – behind closed doors anyway.

For example, at a secret meeting on the 23rd of May 1939, Hitler told his top brass that he would strike Poland at the first opportunity, using flimsy pretexts to do so:

“Danzig is not the objective. It is a matter of expanding our living space in the east. … There is therefore no question of sparing Poland, and the decision remains to attack Poland at the first opportunity. We cannot expect a repetition of Czechoslovakia. There will be fighting.”

Danzig in this instance, if you happen to be wondering, referred to the city that we today call Gdansk; it then operated as a ‘Free City’ under the auspice of the League of Nations with major Polish oversight, and had a majority German population – and it was that fact that Hitler played upon to flap his arms and faux his outrage…

And we say faux his outrage VERY specifically too, as true to his word, Hitler’s SS staged a fake ‘Polish attack’ at Gleiwitz on the 31st of August to serve as a propaganda justification for the invasion the next day. As British historian Sir Martin Gilbert wrote, Hitler started the war “by design,” not by accident.

Even German military leaders later admitted the truth. General Alfred Jodl, for example, when on trial at Nuremberg, acknowledged that Hitler “went to war deliberately” and that all diplomatic offers were often cynical ploys.

So yeah, the notion that Germany didn’t start the war, as peddled by Europa, is nothing short of a fantasy.

Communism and Capitalism are Part of the Same Jewish Plot

In Europa, the conspiracies go further still, however, as it also asserts that both communism and capitalism — ideologies that could NOT be further removed from one another — were merely two sides of the same coin; and that coin, of course – was the Jewish one.

According to the film, Marxist revolution and Western finance were a tandem act by a centuries-long Jewish cabal bent on world domination, with the narrator at one point proclaiming, “Capitalism and communism… both of these are Jewish ideologies, ideologies that poison the national community.”

The film even trots out the bizarre and contrary notion that wealthy Jewish bankers created communism to enslave the masses. In their view, figures like the Rothschilds and Karl Marx were apparently co-conspirators in the same grand scheme.

This claim practically gives you intellectual whiplash, of course: one-minute Jews are accused of controlling big banks on Wall Street, and the next minute they’re blamed for the Bolsheviks’ Red Terror… the sheer internal contradiction would be laughable if it weren’t laced with such malice.

And if we focus in on the capitalism claims specifically — we’ve already been over communism, so we won’t be retreading that old water — we might question why if ‘the Jews’ collectively controlled world finance and industry, why were they as individuals just as devastated by the Great Depression as everyone else, surely they’d have bailed their own out? And further, why did countries with TINY Jewish populations still manage to develop robust capitalist economies? Take Japan, as an example, it had a Jewish population of one to two thousand before the war – i.e. enough to fill a single slightly big synagogue — and yet Japan was hardly an industrial backwater, was it? The claim just simply doesn’t hold water.

Then there’s the simple fact that the vast majority of industrialists were NOT Jewish — simple. Sure, SOME were, with Julius Rosenwald, the founder of Sears, Roebuck and Co. being a great example, but the vast majority just were not.

In fact, to take this point to the extreme, consider Henry Ford — an absolute titan of pre-war capitalism – not only was he not Jewish, but he was antisemitic to the point that Hitler himself awarded him the Grand Cross of the German Eagle, a VERY up there medal given to regime-friendly foreigners, in 1938… so yeah, we’re quite comfortable going out on a limb and assuming that old Henry probably wasn’t in on any kind of global Jewish conspiracy…

It’s also worth noting that the ‘Jews run both capitalism and communism’ trope is, just like the ‘Jews caused the war’ one we have already looked at, something that has its roots in original Nazi propaganda, with it largely being the brainchild of Alfred Rosenberg – THE leading racial theorist of the regime, with him coining the term “Judeo-Bolshevism” to describe it. To him, and his acolytes, it gave the ultimate scapegoat for every ill that befell their Reich; it allllllll just so happened to be the fault of the people they’d been attacking since 1920 – how handy!

The irony then, is rich: the film accuses historians and the media of being manipulators, yet it is the film that is manipulating viewers by conflating unrelated facts to fit a preconceived narrative…

According to Europa, Nazi Germany has been falsely demonised, while Britain, America, and especially the Soviet Union committed “all the real war crimes” – as it puts it. The film speaks at length about incidents like the bombing of Dresden, the Red Army’s mass rapes in Germany, and the postwar expulsion of German civilians as proof that the Allies were the true butchers. Meanwhile, the Wehrmacht is portrayed as a noble force that “didn’t do that” kind of thing. One former German soldier, who of course had absolutely no reason at all to misrepresent his service, even claims, “Rape? The Russians did that. You couldn’t. You’d be shot.”

Let’s break this down. Yes, the Allies committed atrocities – ESPECIALLY the Soviets. Red Army troops did indeed rape vast numbers of German women as they stormed into the Reich, with estimates running into the hundreds of thousands. Cities like Dresden and Hamburg were bombed into oblivion, killing civilians en masse. These things happened. And they’re not brushed under the rug by serious historians.

But here’s the key difference: the scale, intent, and nature of Allied actions were fundamentally different from the crimes of the Axis powers. The Allies bombed cities to break enemy morale and industry — brutal tactics, yes, and rightly debated — but not for the express purpose of extermination. The Soviet rapes were spontaneous acts of vengeance, not official state policy. Meanwhile, the Nazis built a machine of murder.
